Repair Chance

This information is taken from Five on Friday January 16th 2026 and supplied by Parallax.

There are multiple calculations that happen when you attempt to repair an item to determine the success rate and if the item incurs durability loss.

Durability Loss:

  • There is a 40% base chance to lose durability when repairing an item.
  • This can be offset by 1% per 10.0 points of skill the player (or repair deed) has.
  • For each point of durability the item has lost, the chance to lose durability is increased by 1%.

Example: If you have 120.0 tailoring and repair an item that is at 200/255, the durability loss chance is calculated as: ((40 + 255) – 200) – (120.0 / 10), or an 83% chance to lose durability. Durability loss can occur even if the repair is not successful.

Repair Chance:

  • First, the repair difficulty is determined by how damaged the item is. The greater the damage, the more difficult the repair will be. An item that is 250/255 will have a difficulty rating of about ~19.
  • Second, skill-based roll is made. The difficulty of the repair is subtracted from this roll to determine if the repair is successful or not.

For max durability items (255):

  • With 120 skill, you will have 100% success at 11+ durability
  • With 100 skill, you will have 100% success at 52+ durability
