Community Manager
What does a day generally look like for you?
Describing myself, would mean being a social media manager, content creator, video editor, livestream host, on-camera personality and community engagement specialist. Depending on the day of the week, heh. Whether I stream first thing or last thing in my day, I have a general routine. It always starts with either coffee, tea, or energy drink. I then check my schedule book for what I need to finish/start/work on for the day. Then, I catch up on all the social media platforms messages/posts that I missed while I was sleeping. Next, it’s time to check out my e-mail and queue, to see if there’s anything that needs to be answered or passed along. Videos take a lot of time to do, which means I’m heavily focused on them with headphones on (And depending on my mood, water, tea or maybe even a soda). Otherwise, throughout the day, I’m passing info along, answering messages and preparing various interactive posts for the social media platforms. Sprinkle in some of that streaming magic, and that’s my day! Hehe.
How long have you been playing UO?
I’ve been playing since 1999, just before Trammel came along. Finally got an account of my *own* with the Trammel expansion. I was so excited! Took a short break during a move and have been back ever since!
How long have you been working on UO?
8 Years now. I first started as an EM for the program. I was in school at the same time, getting my dual associates degrees and once I graduated, a position opened for a more full-time dedicated position that was in my wheelhouse of my degree(s)! I took a chance, submitted a resume, and am excited to have been given the opportunity to work with this dream team we have here. I have been a Community Manager now for 3 full years! I’m excited to share many more with everyone!
What is your favorite UO moment?
The first time I ever signed into UO. It was unforgettable. I logged in and was amazed at everything. The graphics, the care for details and the sheer ability to make my own path! I wasn’t forced to follow anything like many other games I’m familiar with playing and that’s what really drew everything to me. I was just fascinated by magic and wonder. When they released Trammel, I immediately scrambled to [Video Game Store] to get me an account of my OWN. Since then, every expansion, I waited in line at [Video Game Store] as soon as those doors opened. It’s strange to say, but even today with the new events I get that same feeling.
What has been your favorite project to work on?
There have been many honestly. As an EM, my favorite event was possibly one that involved a popular goblins introduction. Everyone on the shard just kept giving so many puns, I couldn’t keep a straight face throughout the event!! As a Community Manager, I would have to mention the Seasonal event videos as they have really allowed me to push myself even farther from my comfort zone and shine! Finally, while it’s not a project, per se, streaming. I adore streaming for the Japanese audience (I can’t believe how much better my Japanese has gotten just over the past 9 months alone!!) and English audience! While I do take breaks (SHOCK! Lol), I often find myself missing everyone during that time. I tend to be more of an emotional person, so when holidays come around and that break comes, I find myself in tears on the final stream of the year for each audience.
