Greetings,
Recently the UO team investigated reports of degraded server performance as it relates to our new global event, “Kindlehart”. We took steps to identify several areas where an inordinate amount of server resources were being allocated to elements of the encounter and corrected those. We’ve read your feedback regarding some of these optimizations, especially world boss loot, and will be addressing those concerns. Thank you to all those who submitted bug reports and feedback regarding that issue.
Upon further investigation it became clear a small number of user accounts were in violation of the Terms of Service, and those violations were having a severely negative impact on the health of the gameplay servers. The use of unsanctioned third-party clients is against the Terms of Service and users are putting the servers and themselves at risk by utilizing these clients. Unauthorized third-party clients can negatively impact gameplay for others in far reaching ways and it is our duty to address those situations. These programs can also include malicious functionality that can allow nefarious actors to gain access to your personal account information.
Our Terms of Service are clear:
Broadsword reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to deny any user access to the Services, without notice. If you violate any of the Terms, we may, at our option, give you a warning notice of violation or terminate your account immediately for violation of the Terms.
When it comes to the integrity of the game world, the UO Team will not hesitate to take whatever steps we feel are necessary to preserve a positive experience for the vast majority of users who play while respecting the Terms of Service. Disputes to these actions can be directed to dispute@ultimaonline.com.
We want to thank the overwhelming amount of support from our players, past and present, who have reached out thanking us for taking these necessary steps.
See you in Britannia,
UO Team
