It is with great honor and joy that we celebrate 28 incredible years of Ultima Online! Since 1997, Britannia has been home to countless adventurers spanning generations—and for your unwavering support through the decades, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Starting today, veteran players can log in and claim this year’s anniversary rewards, featuring a collection of orchid-themed delights to commemorate the occasion!

We invite you to join us later today for our Anniversary Celebration! For those unable to attend, the festivities will be streamed in full on our YouTube and Twitch channels—don’t miss it! And throughout the day, don’t forget to stop by the official Ultima Online Discord for exciting giveaways!

The Road Ahead

As we honor our storied past, we also look forward to the future. Here’s a glimpse of what lies ahead for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026.

Publish 121 — Mid-October

Prepare for a cornucopia of holiday fun!

• Face off against the fearsome Butchers and discover brand-new Jack-o’-Lantern designs.
• Hunt skeletons roaming the cemeteries of Britannia, now offering new collectible hues.
• Earn fresh rewards in the Huntmaster’s Challenge.
• December brings the return of Krampus, along with festive holiday gifts and a brand-new set of decorative gift boxes—perfect for the Artisan Festival!

The Draconic Awakening

A brand-new live event takes flight this fall! Brave the depths of Britannia’s dungeons to challenge draconic foes, scour dragon nests for treasures, and—if you dare—face the Dragon Matriarch herself. Victorious adventurers may even claim an all-new dragon mount among the many rewards!

Looking Ahead to 2026

The team is hard at work in the high-concept phase, shaping the next year of adventure. Some of our key areas of focus include:

• Player vs. Player Combat — evolving combat to be more dynamic and engaging.
• Housing — improvements and updates to make your Britannian homes even more special.
• New Legacy Season 2 — a bold new chapter in the evolution of Ultima Online.

We’ve also heard the community’s call to breathe new life into some beloved encounters. To that end, we are excited to introduce four brand-new Britannia-exclusive holidays in 2026—Kindlehart, Sprite Light, Moonveil, and Shardfall—each blending the spirit of old encounters with fresh challenges and rewards.

Meanwhile, work continues on an updated Classic Client and a steady march of bug fixes and quality of life updates to ensure a smooth and magical journey for all.

• The festivities kick off at 10:00am ET at The Barnacle in Minoc on TC1 with a warm welcome and a nostalgic look back at 28 unforgettable years of Britannia.
• Then it’s time for the Bagball Battle! Players will compete for a shard-bound trophy and the ultimate prize—a chance to take on the Dev Team themselves!
• At 11:30am ET / 12:00pm ET, return to The Barnacle for UO History Trivia! Be the fastest to answer correctly, rack up the most points, and claim a personalized trophy on your home shard.
• At 1:00pm ET, don’t miss our Developers Panel! Join the Dev Team live on TC1 as they share stories, answer questions, and reveal their visions for Ultima Online’s future. Bring your questions and be part of the conversation!
• Finally, we’ll close the celebration at 2:00pm ET with heartfelt thanks to our incredible community.

We anticipate New Legacy Publish 3 will be going live next week.  New Legacy Publish 3 will include the The Shattering and so we want to share with you some important updates related to this publish,

New Legacy Publish 3 – Important Dates

August 26th, 2025

• New Legacy Publish 3 goes live.
• Prologue quest for the Fractured Veil event can be completed.

September 2nd, 2025

• The world begins to shatter.
• The Fractured Veil event begins.
• Creation of NEW CHARACTERS will be DISABLED.
• Any pre-existing characters will still be playable.

IF YOU INTEND TO EXPERIENCE THE NEW LEGACY SHARD DURING THE SHATTERING, MAKE SURE YOU CREATE YOUR CHARACTERS PRIOR TO THIS DATE.

October 14th, 2025

• The Fractured Veil event ends.
• The Shattering concludes.
• Character Transfers to Production Shards are ENABLED.
• New Legacy Shards will enter “Lite-Mode”.
• Housing will be DISABLED and all existing houses will begin to COLLAPSE (IDOC).
• Character Transfer maintenance will happen prior to this date – this will result in the Character Transfer process being down game wide for a period of time.  We will update when this process begins before the Oct. 14 start.

Lite-Mode (October 14th, 2025 until Season 2)

• This mode will persist at the conclusion of The Shattering until New Legacy Season 2 begins.
• Creation of NEW CHARACTERS will be ENABLED.
• While in Lite-Mode, the following restrictions apply:
  • Character progression and travel will be limited to base narratives only (Warrior, Mage, Ranger, Crafter).
  • All Advanced Skill Trainers and Advanced Narrative Quest Givers will be DISABLED.
  • Players may transfer any pre-existing character or new character to production servers.
    • Note: Characters must complete their base narrative in order to be eligible for transfer.
    • For combat-based narratives: the slaying of the Orc Champion spawn is not required during this time.

Season 2 Start

• All characters that have not transferred by the start of Season 2 will be deleted
