He didn’t often find lizardmen on his doorstep. Actually this was the first time. It was a small one, rather smelly, and holding out a piece of hide towards him.

Very cautiously, the carpenter took the hide with a pair of tongs, and looked at it. Some strange pictures had been scratched into the surface, along with one barely legible word: “Infytayshun”

“You’re inviting me somewhere?”

The little lizard man nodded, grinning with a mouthfull of rotting teeth. He pointed towards the moongate.

“Um… ok. But…”

The lizardman bounded over the fence, and dived through the public moongate. The carpenter stared at his “invitation”. Then another lizardman ran past. And another. And another.

Looking up and down the street, he saw all his neighbours staring at small pieces of hide in their hands, all looking equally puzzled.
