Fishing

Where to Start Choosing Your Skills Obviously you will need fishing skill, start your character with 50 skill, or if you’re adapting an existing character buy it as high as you can from the fishing guildmaster. Next you will need some way to combat the sea serpents you’re likely to encounter once you get off shore. Magery is a good option, but you could also consider mysticism, archery or, if your character is a gargoyle, throwing. Each of these will need some ‘support’ skills, meditation and evaluate intelligence for magery, focus or imbuing for mysticism, tactics and anatomy, maybe also […]

Cartography

While most people only think of cartography in terms of decoding maps to find buried treasure the skill can also be used to create maps of your surroundings. Sea charts can be used by fisherman, either to plot a circular course to bring them back to shore at the end of their fishing trip or to sail to an area where they might find sunken treasure. Introduced in publish 105, cartography can also increase the dig radius from the treasure spot on treasure maps as follows: 0 to 50.9 skill gives a 1 tile radius (in other words, you must […]

Bowcraft and Fletching

Bowcraft and Fletching are two aspects of a single skill used to make a variety of bows and all types of feathered ammunition. For bows that means arrows and crossbow bolts, but the fletcher also creates fukiya darts for ninjas to use with their carpenter-crafted fukiya blowguns. Kindling and the imbuing ingredient ‘Elven Fletching’ can also be made by a bowyer. Tools and Resources Everything you need can be bought from an NPC Bowyer’s shop, but that can prove costly. You will need fletching tools, those made by a GM tinker are desirable as they will have more uses than […]

Mechanical Pets

The ability to construct mechanical pets was discovered some years ago when Lord Blackthorn brought his abominable constructs to Ilshenar. Later the mage Sutek developed three further pet types and a recent discovery is the Kotl Automaton. The basic building blocks of mechanical pet construction are: a clockwork assembly and a power crystal Although crafted by characters with Tinkering skill the basic pet is not listed on the tinkering menu, Sutek’s creations and the Kotl Automaton are listed, however, under the ‘assemblies’ category. Creating them is an exhausting task, if attempting to repeat it too quickly you will be advised […]
