Moonveil Virtue Pilgrimages

During Moonveil, players can partake on Virtue Pilgrimages obtained from Brother Footwell near Empath Abbey in Yew. He tells you:

Hail, Traveler, and welcome! You have found me at a most auspicious time. Cast your eyes to the heavens! Do you see it? The moons, Felucca and Trammel, stir in their ancient courses. The scholars call it celestial mechanics. I call it what it is … a sign from the Virtues themselves!

In the old days, our ancestors would mark such signs with a sacred tradition: The Virtue Pilgrimage. A journey made on foot to one of the eight Shrine. During this festival of Moonveil, we have rekindled that ancient custom, and I invite you to partake.

Should you wish to undertake a Pilgrimage, know this: The virtues themselves will choose your destination. Not I, not you, but the Virtues. You must surrender that choice and put your faith in them entirely. That surrender is the first step of any true pilgrimage.

I will give you a Virtue Candle to carry. Bear it to the Shrine the Virtues have chosen for you, and lay it at the base of the altar. That is all that is asked.

One more thing… and I say this with great seriousness. You must walk. No horse, no magic, not gate or recall. The road itself is part of the devotion. Your feet upon the earth, your eyes upon the horizon. Travel by boat is permitted should the waters lie between you and your destination, but the moment your feet touch land, you walk.

Now, I must share with you one of the conditions of this sacred practice. The Virtues ask that you undertake no more than five Pilgrimages in a single day. This is not a limitation that I impose, but instead it is their will. Devotion offered in haste and excess is no devotion at all. Return to me each day for as long as Moonveil endures, adn in time you will have walked every road in Britannia.

And speaking of walking every road… I would be remiss if I did not tell you of the recognition that awaits those who show true dedication. Should your complete a pilgrimage to every Shrine of Virtue, you will earn something few adventurers can claim… special recognition is bestowed in honor of your devotion.

If you wish to see how far your journey has taken you; which shrines you have honored and which still await your candle… have a look at the ledger below. It keeps an honest record of every pilgrimage you have undertaken during this festival.

Are you ready to place your faith in the Virtues, traveler?

  • Pilgrimages can be completed in both Felucca and Trammel. Be sure to check both facet and shrine you’re sent to, taking the candle to the right shrine on the wrong facet results in a failed pilgrimage.
  • Pilgrimages are randomly assigned and are not unique, meaning you can get the same pilgrimage multiple times
  • When you accept a pilgrimage you will receive a Virtue Candle tied to a specific Virtue Shrine
  • Complete the Pilgrimage by walking on foot to the required Virtue Shrine and placing the Virtue Candle at its base. For Spiritualty shrine this means finding your way onto the plinth. Do this by repeating the shrine’s mantra three times. Om om om.
  • Placing the Virtue Candle at an incorrect location will cause the candle to lose its flame and you will fail your Pilgrimage if it is left on the ground
  • You cannot mount, recall, or gate travel while on a Virtue Pilgrimage. Sailing is permitted.
  • Track your completed virtue pilgrimages on the gump when speaking to Brother Footwell
  • Players can only accept 5 virtue pilgrimages per day
  • Completing a virtue pilgrimage will award you with an astral object and Spirituality virtue points
  • Completing all virtue pilgrimages in Felucca or Trammel will reward you with special titles
  • Completing all virtue pilgrimages in Felucca AND Trammel will reward you with a special title
