Stealing

Introduction Stealing in Ultima Online can take several forms, stealing from crates and barrels in town shops, from monsters in dungeons, from Exodus Zealots in Exodus Dungeon or even stealing from other players. The specifics of some of these, with information of the possible rewards, are dealt with in the pages linked below. Other characters should be aware that performing beneficial acts upon a thief will flag you ‘criminal’. To see if someone is in the Thieves Guild use the Forensic Evaluation skill on them. The higher your Forensic Evaluation skill, the more chance you have of finding out who’s […]

Stealing in Exodus Dungeon

As demonstrated by the Europa character, Xorartep Xorartep skidded to a halt and, glancing left and right, quietly hid in the shadows. Sliding from the back of her summoned mount she stealthily slipped through the starry portal before her into the room below. Hoping that her caress of the statue at home would bring her the luck it promised; she paused and carefully surveyed the scene. From the corner of her eye she glimpsed the dark purple robe of an Exodus Zealot and set off in pursuit of her prey. She crept, silently, behind the unwary creature and attempted to […]

Remove Trap

Remove trap is a skill used to remove traps on containers and disarm floor traps in various locations. Until publish 105 there were ‘qualifying’ requirements which must be met before the skill could be trained, these have been removed; as a result it is now possible to purchase the first few points in training, though you will still need detect hidden to find floor traps such as those in Underworld. Using this skill will not cause a hidden character to be revealed To use the skill target the floor trap you have found or the box, crate or chest you […]

Poisoning

Poisoning skill is traditionally considered the art of the assassin and is often included in a template with Ninjitsu. The main uses are: With Magery – it defines the strength of the mage spells ‘poison’ and ‘poison field’. Poison spell must be cast within 3 tiles of the victim to attain full potency. Formula – [Magery + Poisoning]÷2 With Necromancy – Necromancers with greater than 60 poisoning skill will have a 3% to 9% chance (Scales with poison skill) to poison their target with the spell ‘Poison Strike’. For Warriors – When using a weapon to which poison has been […]

Runebooks

Rune Books are a way to store multiple marked locations and are a boon to both individual characters and player created rune libraries. Unlike individual runes, runebooks are ‘blessed’ and therefore can not be lost or stolen from your backpack . The books are crafted by player scribes and can be bought, either empty or containing runes selected and marked by the seller, from player vendors. Using Vendor Search will help you locate such a vendor. Locations are added to a book by dropping a marked rune onto the book, each book will hold a total of 16 locations. The […]

Inscription

Scribing Books It is my intent to offer words of wisdom for those who wish to follow the scholarly profession of scribe, for wisdom is a requirement in this art. Be sure you have sufficient intelligence to pursue it, and a strong back to carry the heavy scrolls you will need to practice it. Tools and Resources You will need pens, of course. You can get them from town if you wish, but those crafted by a grandmaster tinker will last longer. You will need scrolls to write upon. These can be bought from a number of townspeople. Scribes in the […]

Herding

Useless skill, so they tell me, and maybe it does take a little ingenuity to turn a coin from it, but oh the fun you can have with a lowly shepherd’s crook and an ounce of mischief. How it Works Take up your crook ( or leave it in your pack) and double click it to start your journey as a shepherd. Target the creature you plan to herd. You will be asked where you want it to go, at this point you have two choices. First option, target a location. If you are successful the creature will walk slowly […]

Healing

Healing in Detail Healing skill can be the basis of a role played, dedicated healer, but more usually it is the skill trained by warriors (see the page Melee Fighter). Healing has three main functions, repairing damage, curing poison and resurrecting player ghosts. Success in these endeavours depends on your skill in both Healing and Anatomy. Up to 60 points in both skills you can repair damage. At 60 points you begin to be able to cure poison, you must have BOTH skills at this level. At 80 points you begin to be able to resurrect player characters, though it […]

Detect Hidden

The skill ‘detect hidden’ is used both passively and actively to detect hidden boxes, hidden traps, hidden people, and for those engaged in Virtue vs Vice, hidden sigils. Until publish 105, June 2019, Detect hidden, together with lockpicking, was also a qualifying requirement for training the skill ‘remove trap’. This requirement no longer applies. Finding Hidden People The radius of detection is based on your “Detect Hidden” skill. Your chances of finding a hidden player depend on the relationship between your Detect Hidden skill and their Hiding skill. You can expect to be totally unable to find a grandmaster […]
