New and Returning Players

Whether you’ve never played Ultima Online before or you’re picking the game back up for the first time in years, everything you need to get started is right here.

Account Setup

Before you can step into Britannia, you’ll need an account to log in with.

• Create an EA account – Visit the EA Account Management page and to create or recover your account. For more information on creating and recovering accounts visit the Login Guide page.
• Create an Ultima account – Once your EA account is created you can create an Ultima account. The account name and password you create here is what you will use when logging into the game, so don’t forget it! A special note, both free accounts and paid accounts can log in to and enjoy the fun to be had in New Legacy.
• Helpful Resources – There are additional helpful resources on the Ultima Online website such as the Login Guide and the Account Management Guide or on the Ultima Online YouTube channel such as How to Subscribe and How to Recover Your Account.

Game Client

To play Ultima Online you’ll need to install the game client first. There are three sanctioned clients to choose from:

• Classic Client – Choose the Classic Client for a nostalgic look and feel.
• Enhanced Client – Choose the Enhanced Client for a more modern interface with hotbars and customizable UI.
• Web Client – Choose the Web Client if you would like a more flexible experience for at home or on the go, which also combines the best of both worlds from the visuals of Classic Client and the features of Enhanced Client.

Logging In

Once you’ve created your account and chosen your game client it’s time to log in and play.

• Login – Enter the username and password you created in the earlier Account Setup step, or enter your existing account information.
• Shard Selection – Choose the Shard (Server) you want to play on, in this case you would scroll down the list and choose New Legacy.
• Character Creation – Create your character! Pick a name and customize your character befitting of your adventures ahead. This is how other people will see you.

Playing New Legacy

Are you new to UO and thinking about playing New Legacy or a veteran player that’s interested in New Legacy? Welcome home, there’s never been a better time to join in on the fun. Every system on New Legacy has been rethought from the ground up, same soul as the Britannia you remember, but a more welcoming experience for new, returning and existing players alike. From engaging narrative questlines to epic open-world boss fights, there’s something for everyone.

• Join in on the fun – Create a new character on New Legacy today! With accelerated skill gain and progression, it’s easy to jump in at any time throughout the season without feeling left behind.
• Learn the ropes – You appear on the island of Ocllo after passing through a moongate. Who are you? Where are you? Talk to the nearby NPCs to learn more. They’ll provide you with valuable information and be your guides. Don’t forget to read what they have to say, it might be important!
• Onboarding guide/tutorial – Season 2 introduces a new system, offering new and returning players to Ultima Online helpful tips and information, making their journey easier to learn the game and how to adventure throughout Sosaria.
• Choose your house name – In these lands you will forge your own legacy. Talk to the bard along the road and choose your house name. This is the name that will mark you in the history books, so choose wisely…
• The island of Ocllo – The quests on this island are designed to help teach you the basics of New Legacy and Ultima Online. Don’t hesitate to explore and have fun as you get up to speed.
• Wiki resources – Have additional questions? Check out the New Legacy wiki. The New Legacy wiki explains everything, from narrative questlines to the classic armor and weapon system the information you’re looking for is there.
• Strong community – Do you have questions or want to discuss New Legacy or Ultima Online in general? Join the Discord community! The community is full of people who are always happy to help.
