The pursuit of the arcane on New Legacy is a path of high risk and absolute power. Aspiring mages are tasked with protecting the integrity of reality itself, tracking down corrupted magical anomalies, and pushing back the sinister influence of the Shadow Reavers who seek to shatter Britannia’s ethereal balance. Your magical journey culminates in an intense, battle against the Shadow Reavers, followed by a final showdown against Garthok the Champion on the shores of Buccaneer’s Den.
Completing the Mage narrative grants you an inherent 20% lower mana cost and the ability to accept advanced narratives. It also grants you the right to place a home on the snowy cliffs of Dagger Isle, just north of Moonglow.
The Mage
- Skills: Following this line lets you unlock and naturally train Magery, Evaluate Intelligence, Meditation, Wrestling, and Inscription.
- Spells: You don’t start with a full spellbook. You will gradually fill your spellbook with lower to mid-tier spells as you progress through story milestones. Level 8 spell scrolls cannot be crafted but can be obtained by killing legendary foes.
- Reagents: True to classic Ultima Online roots, casting spells requires carrying physical reagent supplies. The Reagent Bag of Unburdening, purchased at a mage shop, can ease your journey by reducing the weight of reagents by 75%.
- Nystul’s Wisdom: Pushes your magical affinity further by learning the ways of the legendary mage, Nystul, boosting your Lower Mana Cost, Faster Casting and Faster Casting Recovery by collecting Nystul Scrolls.
- Nystul Scroll of Arcane Discipline grants +1% Lower Mana Cost per use, up to 40% from your base 20%
- Nystul Scroll of Arcane Swiftness grants +1 Faster Casting Recovery per use, up to 3
- Nystul Scroll of Arcane Grace grants +1 Faster Casting
Nystul’s Wisdom Requirements and Restrictions
- Nystul’s Wisdom requires the player to have 100.0 skill in Magery, Evaluate Intelligence, and Meditation
- Nystul’s Wisdom is only available to base Mage Templates and Archetypes
- Accepting an advanced narrative line will remove the Nystul’s Wisdom buff from your character
- Having 50+ skill in any of the following skills will remove the Nystul’s Wisdom buff from your character:
- Animal Taming
- Animal Lore
- Veterinary
- Discordance
- Provocation
- Peacemaking
- Swordsmanship / Mace Fighting / Fencing / Archery
