New Legacy – Narrative Quests

Wiki > Ultima Online Wiki > New Legacy, An Overview > New Legacy - Narrative Quests

These consist of a series of tasks involving talking to various NPCs, crafting items, for crafters, defeating enemies for warriors and for both groups, visiting locations, finding and returning items. Crafted items must be marked using the ‘toggle objective item’ option from the character’s context menu. NPCs and items you need to interact with show a sparkle around them when you approach them, use the ‘talk’ option from the npc’s context menu. Double click items you have been sent to collect. When these items are in your back pack use the context menu on the item to deliver it to the appropriate npc. If no specific npc has been named, deliver to an npc in the correct area.  When taking your first job board order you will be presented with the Adventurer’s Guidebook. This shows some of the key locations of the shard. More can be found in the ‘Key Locations‘ page.

Daily Job Boards

For warriors and mages these consist of ‘kill’, ‘defend’ or ‘destroy’ tasks. The creatures you are asked to kill or defend against are not always suitable for your skill level, it may be necessary to retreat and fail an objective when this happens. Be sure to clear the failed quest from your Quest Objectives list.

For crafters the job boards ask you to fill bods, obtained from the npc guildmaster, or search for salvageable equipment. To search for equipment you will need a pick or shovel, dig in the mounds you will find in the named area until a weapon or item of armor appears, double click it to register the find. The item does not need to match exactly the item displayed on the job board.
There is a 5 minute delay before you can re-take a particular job.

On completion of your task approach any job board and speak to the trainer standing beside it to allow you to allocate the skill points you have gained. Although this character spoke to the Smith’s federation trainer, because she is a mage, the points she can allocate are to her relevant skills. Available points are 4.0. She has chosen to distribute them as shown. Note: If you find you have skill points but can’t apply them, you have completed your tasks for that section and need to return to your NPC guild master to follow the next part of your narrative.

Mages may choose to complete inscription bods, while these are not required for the job board and do not contribute towards skill gain they are one route through which it is possible to obtain level 8 spell scrolls and a reagent belt which can hold 10 of each reagent that are not lost at death. You must wear this belt so that the reagents are there when you need them. If the belt is kept in the back pack, or if you run out of reagents in your main pack, cast spells will use the contents!  Level 8 spells can not be crafted but drop as loot from champions and some higher, named, mobs.

Complete jobs from the job board and till you reach the next level of skill, then return your skill trainer NPC to begin the next part of your narrative.
