Unlike combat roles, New Legacy allows dedicated crafters a highly specialized progression track where you are able to craft items to progress. Your job boards require you to fill Bulk Order Deeds (BODs) or use a shovel or pickaxe to salvage buried armor and weapon fragments from designated excavation mounds.
As a crafter you play an extremely important role in the advancement of the Congiarium. This important edifice at Moonglow Lycaeum is constructed using donated BODs and Refined Components from crafters and mages. As it grows, the properties on crafted and looted weapons and armor gradually improve in quality. The Congiarium, once construction has begun, also allows crafters and scribes to enhance weapons and spell books using congius
.
Completing the Crafter narrative grants you the ability to accept additional crafting advanced narratives. It also grants you the right to place a home in your artisan city:
- Blacksmiths: Trinsic
- Tailors: Dagger Island
- Carpenters: Skara Brae
The Blacksmith
Aligned with the Smith’s Federation in Trinsic, you are tasked with supplying Britannia’s vanguard with iron-clad defenses. Your story guides you through rigorous metallurgy quotas, testing your hammer against specialized regional materials.
- Skills: As a blacksmith you will automatically learn and raise Mining alongside your Blacksmithing as well as a base weapon skill such a Swordsmanship.
- Automatons: Craft a 2 slot Clockwork Scorpion to fight alongside you as you quest or even as you venture out to more dangerous locations. These can be crafted once you have learned Mechanical Life Knowledge.
The Tailor
Operating out of the northern workshops of Moonglow, the Tailor narrative treats fabric not just as fashion, but as vital survival gear. You will weave reinforced leather and enchanted cloth capable of shielding mages and rangers from lethal damage.
- Skills: As a tailor you will learn and raise Tailoring as well as a base weapon skill such a Swordsmanship.
- Automatons: Craft a 2 slot Leather Wolf to fight alongside you as you quest or even as you venture out to more dangerous locations. These can be crafted once you have learned Mechanical Life Knowledge.
The Carpenter
Based primarily out of the coastal, forest-thick community of Skara Brae, this narrative focuses heavily on harvesting lumber, mastering architecture, and supplying the local rangers with bows, crossbows, arrows and bolts.
- Skills: As a carpenter you will automatically learn and raise Lumberjacking alongside your Carpentry as well as a base weapon skill such a Swordsmanship.
- Automatons: Craft a 2 slot Carved Treant to fight alongside you as you quest or even as you venture out to more dangerous locations. These can be crafted once you have learned Mechanical Life Knowledge.
Advanced Narratives
Various advanced narratives are available to crafters such as:
- Alchemy
- Blacksmithing
- Carpentry
- Tailoring
Crafting and Crafted Equipment
On New Legacy crafting and resource gathering have been streamlined, resources are transferred directly into the resource pack, the weight of this is not counted towards the character’s carrying capacity. Items cannot be removed from this pack.
Crafted gear such as armor and weapons can roll improvements tied to the current loot gate depending on material (never the top gate, which stays reserved for boss artifacts). Better materials like Valorite will have a higher chance at an improvement over Iron.
Gathering Treasures
As a crafter when you are out gathering (lumberjacking, mining or skinning) you will have a chance to uncover antiquities and heirlooms. Each gathering skill also has its own exclusive pet lure, encouraging trade with tamers, that can be uncovered while gathering.
Salvage Stations and Unrefined Scrap
Crafters can now salvage magical equipment at Salvage Stations. Salvage Stations can be found in the trade school locations throughout the major cities of Britannia. Salvaged equipment will provide crafters with a new resource, Unrefined Scrap, which can be used to craft a variety of new items. The amount of Unrefined Scrap earned is based on the tier of the magical item salvaged.
Unrefined Scrap is used to create 2 slot automatons such as the Clockwork Scorpion (blacksmithing), Leather Wolf (tailoring) and Carved Treant (carpentry). They cost base resources plus scrap, gain damage-type and resist bonuses from better materials, can’t be bonded, and are healed with a craftable Construct Repair Kit.
Crafters can also make Refined Components using Unrefined Scrap to progress the Congiarium as an alternative to filling BODs. However, BODs still give more points. The Refined Components are worth more when made from better materials.
