The Witch of the Isle

The bolt of raw mana tore through the daemon’s unnatural essence. The fiend gave a final roar and collapsed in a pile of burning embers on the dock. The monstrous skull was the last part to crumble to ash.
As the air cleared of Wildfire’s dense smoke, Lady Tessa let herself finally breathe. A knight pulled off the burning gauntlet that held his sword. A bucket line of the island’s merchants appeared and began dousing stray flames. A young squire stood shakily at attention, despite being badly burned. Lady Tessa flipped through her book to spells to help with burns and injuries.
As she healed the knights from the Hold, Lady Tessa remembered when she first came to the island as a young bride, so many years ago. The people of Serpent’s Hold distrusted magic. Their lord and commander marrying a “witch” had been a huge scandal. It had taken a visit from her friend, the King of Britannia, for them to even look her in the eye. It had been a few more years before they would allow her to mend their injuries with magic.
Alarm bells pulled Tessa from her reverie. Several knights ran to help, but it would take them a few minutes to get to the makeshift field hospital on the other side of the island. With her magic, she could be there instantly.
Her rune dropped Tessa into a conflagration. She started quenching the fire, yard by yard, making a path into the keep that held the field hospital. She entered the courtyard in time to summon a wall of energy to shield a healer trying to protect his patients from the flames.
In the center of the inferno was a woman in a dark robe. Drusilla pointed her crooked athame at Tessa, and the fire complied, slithering forward like a snake.
“Kal Vas Xen An Flam!” Tessa’s magic called to the deep seas around the Isle of Deeds, and they provided her a champion. The giant water elemental quenched the oncoming flames. Mage and elemental turned their magic on the Dark Monk.
Tessa felt a sharp pain in her leg and looked down to a small dart. From the parapet, another woman appeared, with a handful of darts. The Dark Monk Solaria laughed as she joined her sister. “That summon won’t last long once you swallow your tongue.” She pulled a vial from behind her ear.
Drusilla held up a hand. “Reiya will want her alive. Her blood’s potency will help light the flames along the Dark Path.”
Tessa dropped her spellbook and wrenched the dart from her thigh. The pain was terrible, but it gave her a brief rush. She assailed the monks with small spells to distract them. “You should leave now.” She stumbled, but caught herself.
Solaria laughed and then screamed as a crossbow bolt tore into her abdomen. The Knights of the Hold had arrived.
“Sister!” Drusilla let the flames subside to cast a healing spell on her kin. Before she could summon Wildfire again, a knight’s blade cleaved her athame in half. The monk sisters pulled runes from their pockets.
Before they could escape, Tessa used her last strength and mana to command her elemental to break like a wave upon the monks, throwing them over a wall into the waters below the keep. She then collapsed.
A knight dropped his spear to catch Tessa and carry her to a cot. As she faded into unconsciousness, she looked at the circle of worried knights around her. They would never completely trust magic, but they trusted her. Tessa was their witch.

Also please note that all Treasures of Wildfire points reset upon character transfer.

Incorrect skills on Mark of Travesty

Hotfix: Mark of Travesty & Transmog Potion

Greetings,
We have released a hotfix to resolve an issue where inappropriate skill bonuses could be applied to the Mark of Travesty. Existing items with these bonuses will be reverted to their correct state. Items that have been transmogrified are no longer able to be altered.

Alchemist’s Abomination is now live!
In the wake of Yukio’s disappearance from her studio in Tokuno, Britannians from across all facets raced to recover evidence to assist the authorities in finding her. Thanks to your courage and pursuit of truth, Yukio has been found in an abandoned settlement in Ter Mur!
We must call once again on your bravery and ask that you assist in defeating The Alchemist’s Abomination in a Champ Spawn that is sure to bring victory and defeat!
Be sure to pick up your Lore Book to store pages of lore from inside the Tower at the abandoned settlement.

Cat’s Paw

Three fires burned in the clearing. Their bright flames held the wraith in place, offering no shadow in which the spirit could escape. Two men in dark robes tended the fires. When a third figured appeared from the woods, they drew their knives. ”We are all lost in the forest.”
“May the Guide light a fire to lead us out,” the third Dark Monk replied. “We have begun the rituals. Kindling from the Tree of Strife was enough to light the embers, but the Britannians destroyed too much. We need something more.”
“The artisan was able to complete the binding vessel, and the great soul has told us much. We will be ready.”
“Is she still alive? We don’t want people connecting Yukio’s disappearance to us.”
“She is being held by the cat’s paw. His hatred for the gargoyles will provide a helpful distraction while we finish our work.” The Monk doused one of the fires, and the wraith escaped into the dark forest. “Do not worry. He will find it. Then the Heart of Castambre will burn a path across this world!”

Holmes swore as another power crystal sparked and cracked. The clockwork skeleton needed more mana than normal golem-craft, and he had yet to find a workaround. Holmes needed to wait for these components to cool down, so he put down his pliers.
The shadows moved, beckoning Holmes over to another table. The wraith from his dreams now appeared before him in the waking world, bound by chains of shadow and night. Its whispers were constant, directing the construction of the alchemist’s servant. “Flesh can be controlled.”
Picking up a needle and thread of hellhound hair, Holmes began to sew blood spawn into the dead flesh. It twitched with new life, and the glassy eyes blinked. If he could do this much with scrap, how much could the alchemist accomplish with a soulstone crafted from the motherlode?
The mad man looked over at his prisoner. Fortune had smiled when the mercenaries offered the captive artisan to Holmes for almost nothing. Yukio was brilliant and would help carve his masterpiece.
It was a pity she didn’t appreciate his abilities or share his goals. Gargish artifice was nothing compared to what Holmes could do. His alchemy could imbue the very flesh of the living and the dead! When the time came, Yukio would join the others who had doubted him.
As Holmes finished a row of sutures, he considered taking a short nap, but the wraith at his side became agitated. The shade knocked several books off a desk, revealing a torn woodcut of a bleeding rock. The whispers grew louder, “You must finish the servant. Then we can find my heart…”
