General Facts

The ‘Slayer’ property can be found on Weapons, Spellbooks, Instruments and Talismans:

  • The Original Slayers fall into 6 groups. Abyss, Arachnid, Elemental, Humanoid, Reptilian and Undead.
  • Each group has a Super Slayer that will increase damage/success on all monsters within that group.
  • Each of those groups have an opposing group. (e.g. Humanoid vs. Undead, Reptile vs Arachnid)
    – Mobs from the opposing group will do double damage to anyone wielding a Slayer, super or single. e.g Reptile group mobs will do double damage to a player using a Terathan slayer, or any other slayer from the Arachnid group. Undead group mobs will do double damage to a player using an Ogre slayer or any other slayer from the Repond group.
  •  Mondain’s Legacy Slayers, originally found on Talismans and a few specialised weapons, are super slayers which are opposed to undead, this slayer type also includes ‘goblin slayer’ introduced with Stygian Abyss. More recently these properties can also be found on spellbooks dropped by mages during the Shattered Obelisk town invasions.
  • Three additional super slayers were added with the Time of Legends for inhabitants of Eodon.
  • A successful use of a Slayer Weapon, Spellbook or Instrument will yield a little white flash on the monster.
  • Super Slayer Weapons will do double damage to the monsters they are meant for.
  • “Single Slayers” will do triple damage
  • Fey Slayer is a special super slayer category that does triple damage.
  • Slayer Weapons can both be found as monster loot and be crafted by using a runic crafting tool or imbuing skill.
  • Slayer Spellbooks, when equipped, will cause targeted spells to do increased damage to the monsters they are meant for in the same ratio as slayer weapons.
  • Player written Slayer Spellbooks can only be crafted by scribes with high magery, necromancy or mysticism skill using a scribe pen.
  • Slayer Instruments will increase your success chance by 20% when used on the creatures it is meant for.
  • Slayer Instruments will decrease your success chance by 20% when used on the creatures from its opposing group.
  • Slayer Instruments can only be found as monster loot except for 2 double slayer minor artifact instruments and 3 super slayer instruments from Clean up Britannia.
  • Mondains Legacy slayers and Eodon slayers cannot be crafted or imbued.
  • Slayer Talismans are found on Mondain’s Legacy monsters or as Quest Rewards. Do not affect damage from cast spells, melee and ranged attack only.

These properties only existed on talismans until the Shattered Obelisk event of 2017 with the following exceptions: ‘bovine slayer’ found on ‘butcher’s war cleaver’, ‘mage slayer’ found on ‘fleshripper’ and ‘wolf slayer’ found on ‘misericord’.  Spellbooks with these slayer properties were dropped by Mages during the Shattered Obelisk event’s city invasions . Crook of Humility, a reward from the Treasures of Doom event also  has the property ‘wolf slayer’

Juka Slayer Bows

Juka bows are a unique item type, not easily identified unless the player is aware of their potential.
jukabow

  • When looted from a Juka Lord, they have the appearance of a standard bow with no properties, however they can not be equipped. Attempting to equip the bow gives the system message “you cannot equip this bow until a bowyer modifies it.”
  • Because they have no properties before modification they can be reforged and/or imbued with up to 5 properties, within the imbuing weight allowance of a non-exceptional item.
  • A GM Bowyer modifies these bows by double clicking the bow and then targeting a gear (made by tinkers). If this is done after reforging/imbuing this can result in an item with 6 properties.
  • A modified bow changes its color to a dark grayish tone, receives a random slayer property and a boost to its durability (unless it has been treated with powder of fortification). The bow pictured received the property ‘troll slayer’ and durability was bumped to 165/165

Besides these special properties, the Juka Slayer Bows behave exactly the same way as other Slayer Weapons (such as dealing additional damage etc.).
